Location
The Mathematical Foundation of Computer Science conference (MFCS 2001)
will take place in Cristal Palace Hotel, Hlavni 61, Marianske Lazne (Marienbad),
Czech Republic. A limited access to the Internet (low bandwidth connection)
will be provided at the conference site. For more information on the town

Travel
By train or bus
It is easy to get to Marianske lazne by direct train from Prague and from
Nuernberg. Here is a list of possible connections from Prague
and from Nuernberg. For other train and bus schedules
you may consult the web pages of the Czech
Railways or the Deutsche
Bahn.
For the way back you may again use direct trains to Prague
or to
Nuernberg.
From the train and bus station, the hotels are 20-30 minute walk to
north. When you are at the traffic lights, you are half way there. There
is also a public bus no 5 going there, or you can use a cab.
By car
From Prague: Take the highway E50 to Plzen (92km), from Plzen go on along
the E50 till the exit Bor (42km) where you have to turn right in the direction
Plana. After 15km you reach Plana and after other 15km you get to Marianske
lazne.
From Rozvadov (Czech-German border on the way from Nuernberg): Take
the E50 to Prague, but already after 23km at the exit Bor turn left in
the direction Plana. After 15km you reach Plana and after other 15km you
get to Marianske lazne.
From Cheb: Take the way E48/E49 direction Prague, after 6km turn right
and follow the way 21 along which you will get after 24km to Velka Hledsebe.
Turn left to Marianske lazne (2km more).
The hotels are about 1km north from the only traffic lights in the town.
For parking in the hotel there is an extra charge.
In Prague
From the airport to the train and bus station, you can go by public transport
or cab. For both you should expect to take slightly less that 1 hour. For
a cab, take a white minivan "Cedaz", for a fixed rate of 360 czech crowns.
For a public transport, go by bus 119 to the endstop Dejvicka, take subway
to Muzeum, change lines there, and go one stop to Hlavni nadrazi for a
train station or two stops to Florenc for the bus station; you need to
buy a ticket for 12 crowns in advance (machine or a newstand), stamp it
on bus only and it is valid on the other rides, too. The bus or train to
Marianske lazne is about 150 crowns (you need to pay all in cash, there
are exchange offices and ATM's at the airport).
General information for visitors
Travel documents
You need a valid passport to enter the Czech Republic. Citizens of most
European countries, U.S.A., Israel, and some other countries do not need
visa for short term visits. Starting April 1, 2001, citizens of CANADA
need a visa for any visit. Please check the details with the nearest Czech
embassy.
Money
The Czech currency is koruna (Czech crown, Kc). 1 Euro is about 34 Kc (1
DM is about 17 Kc), 1 US$ is about 37 Kc.
